Privacy Policy

What the website and the StreamXLS software collect, how we use it, and your choices.

This policy explains how StreamXLS LLC ("StreamXLS," "we," "us") handles personal information in connection with (a) the website at streamxls.com (the "Site") and (b) the StreamXLS software (the "Software"). It is the Privacy Policy referenced by, and incorporated into, the StreamXLS End User License Agreement (EULA).

The most important fact first: the Software never transmits your market data, positions, orders, account values, or spreadsheet contents to us. It processes that data locally, between your own Excel and the Interactive Brokers TWS you connect it to, and sends no usage analytics or behavioral telemetry. The only data the Software transmits is the limited licensing data described in "The StreamXLS software" below. (If you choose to include trading or spreadsheet data in a message to our support team, we receive what you send us.)

The website

Information you give us. When you use the contact form, we collect the details you submit: your name and email address (required), and — if you choose to provide them — your organization or entity and the contents of your message.

Release-notes list. If you sign up for release notes, we collect your email address and store it with Resend, the email provider that also delivers our contact-form messages. The list is used only to send release notes and new essays — no marketing beyond that, and we do not share it with anyone else. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing support@streamxls.com.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our infrastructure provider records standard technical logs when you visit — for example your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and timestamps — to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Site.

Anti-spam. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may collect technical signals from your browser to distinguish human visitors from automated abuse.

The StreamXLS software

What we never receive. The Software does not send us — and we do not receive or collect — your market data, trading or order data, positions, account values, or the contents of your spreadsheets. It contains no usage analytics or behavioral telemetry.

License activation and validation. When you activate the Software (including starting a free trial), and periodically afterward when it re-validates the license in the background, the Software contacts our licensing service (operated for us by Cryptlex), which records a device fingerprint — an identifier derived from your machine's hardware, used to count activated machines against your license — and your IP address. When you activate a paid license, the activation record additionally includes:

  • your license key and activation status;
  • the product version installed; and
  • a record of your EULA acceptance, attached at activation: the EULA version and its SHA-256 hash, the acceptance timestamp, the product version at acceptance, and your Windows machine GUID (a device identifier).

We use this data to issue and validate licenses, enforce the number of activated machines your license allows, prevent fraud and abuse, keep a record of EULA assent, and provide support. It is not used for advertising or profiling.

Purchases and billing. Checkout and billing are handled by Freemius as merchant of record; Freemius collects your billing and payment details under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your full payment card number. We receive and keep your contact email and subscription details (plan, term, machine count) — your email address is also stored with the license record — and we maintain a record linking your subscription to your license so that renewals, upgrades, and cancellations are applied to the right license. Your license key is delivered to your email address.

Update checks. If update checking is enabled, the Software periodically requests an update manifest from streamxls.com. Like any web request, this discloses standard technical data (your IP address and request metadata) to our infrastructure provider's logs. If you choose to install an offered update, the installer file is downloaded from the file host the manifest references (currently GitHub). Update checks carry no account identity and are not used to track you.

How we use information

  • To respond to your inquiry and, where relevant, to help you with a trial or license.
  • To provide, activate, and validate the Software and licenses you purchase.
  • To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site and the Software's licensing and update services.
  • To comply with legal obligations and to protect our rights.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising or build advertising profiles from it.

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (activating, validating, and supporting your license, and billing); our legitimate interests in securing the Site and our services and in preventing fraud and abuse; and compliance with legal obligations (such as tax and accounting records).

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery, security, the Turnstile anti-spam check, and the infrastructure behind license provisioning and update checks.
  • Cryptlex — license activation and validation (holds the activation records described above).
  • Freemius — checkout, billing, subscription management, and tax handling, as merchant of record.
  • Resend — delivery of transactional email: the message generated when you submit the form, and your license key after purchase.
  • Google — the mailboxes that receive and answer your messages.

These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide their services to us.

Cookies

The Site does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies and does not run third-party analytics. Our infrastructure and anti-spam providers may set strictly necessary cookies required for security and to operate the form.

Data retention

We keep the messages you send us for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a reasonable business record, then delete or archive them. License and activation records (including the EULA-acceptance record) are kept for the life of your license and afterward as needed for legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution purposes. Technical logs are retained for limited periods under our providers' standard practices.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to receive a copy of it, or to object to certain processing — for example under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email support@streamxls.com; we will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Note that some licensing data must be retained while your license is active for the Software to keep working, and some records we are required to keep for legal or accounting reasons. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Security

We maintain reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, and we limit what the Software collects to the data its licensing and update services need to function.

International visitors

We operate from the United States. If you contact us or use the Software from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, transfers of EU/UK personal data to or through our service providers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved transfer mechanism in the providers' terms; contact us for more information.

Children

The Site and the Software are not directed to or designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the current version; material changes will be reflected here.
